Saturday Night Live (Season 48)
Job: Additional Film Unit Graphic Designer
Film Unit Graphic Designers: Keith Endow, Dan Blaushild, Jessie Leo Poole
Graphics Supervisor: Marissa Sher
Creative Director: Leigh McGrath
As a life-long comedy dork, contributing some work to Saturday Night Live was a bucket-list tier opportunity. Witnessing the work that the Film Unit pulls off between Wednesday and Saturday night first-hand is truly mind-boggling. After spending the majority of the pandemic - and my union career - working from home, being thrust into an office like this one was a significant (and much needed!) energy shift.
Please Don’t Destroy - Election Night (Season 48, Episode 6 )
Having worked on a handful of political shows in the past, I had a good idea of how to make convincing election graphics. Combining that with Please Don’t Destroy’s comedic sensibility was a really fun task.We made an enormous suite of branded graphics for a three and a half minute sketch. The way the fliers suddenlt appear around the room really makes me laugh. See if you can spot all the color variations in the video! Some details I especially enjoyed including were the logo for the Party Party and the fact that John’s badge says “Intern” while the other two are co-chiefs of staff.

Pinx Period Underwear (Season 48, Episode 5 - Amy Schumer/Steve Lacy)
I had the opportunity to work on the brand logo and packaging for the pinx. period brand underwear that would be featured in this commercial spoof. The goal was to make something that evoked existing brands like Poise & thinx, while also addressing some of the talking points throughout the sketch. We didn’t know if the product box would be a physical prop or re-made in visual effects, so I had to prepare for both scenarios, Ultimately, they went with a simplified logo and the post team used my assets to recreate a mockup of the product box.

Box Design with Custom Die-line:
My favorite part of working on this sketch was getting to pitch some ideas for visual gags to communicate the ridiculous absorbency options of the pads. The final sketch ended up using the droplets from Option A with the text labels from Option B - along with a hilarious wave emoticon for the “biblical” variant.

HBO Mario Kart Trailer (Season 48, Episode 12 - Pedro Pascal/Coldplay)
Honored to have been a tiny part of this insane undertaking. I made a bunch of background gak to help fill out the tent village that appears at the start of the sketch We used inspiration from The Last of Us and other apocalyptic media and gave them a Mushroom Kingdom twist. I’ve been playing Mario since I was a kid, so I took the opportunity to delve into the game’s rich archive and history; I wanted to sneak in lots of little details in case any of my fellow nerds caught a glimpse. A lot of them didn’t end up on camera, but I’m particularly proud of my recreation of the New Donk City seal.
I also got to recreate an iconic Mario coin for props and some character emblems for the Karts.
